Before Halloween, Nicole wanted me to make her Elsa dress, from movie Frozen.
 - "Oh Boy, of course, Dear!", said I, not really feeling it.
So, I got some fabric and a pattern. Had to adjust it later. And got ready for a challenge.
За неделю до Хэловина, Николета обявила что она хочет костюм Элсы из Frozen. 
- "Ох! Ну конечно!!" - сказала я, без особого энтузиазма.
Итак я закупила ткани, выкройку и все мелочи. Выкройку пришлось менять. Но шить начала.

Then I run out of fabric and had to make another trip to the store to buy an extra 1.5 yards of it.
The dress was ready! Finally. Here you see it half-way done -
Потом оказалось что мне не хватает полтора метpа ткани! Помчалась в магазин. Докупила.
Платье наконец-то готово! Здесь вы видите еще незаконченное платье - горлoвина и подгибка рукавов и низа не сделаны.
 

Then I had to make two Elsa hats for Nicole and her best friend Shasta. They used to go to St.Paul school together. Now they miss each other and once in a wile we have play-dates.
Дальше я связала две шапочки Элсы - для Николетки и ее лучшей подруги Шасты. Они раньше ходили в одну школу.
 
And at the end we made Elsa magic wand. Two dowels, two stars, glitter and glow-in-the-dark paint, and a ribbon.
И еще мы сделали волшебную палочку. Покрыли ее светящейся в темноте краской и блестяшками. Добавили ленту. Ну и бусы для ансамбля. И Элса была готова!
 
Added a few strands of beaded necklace to the costume and Elsa was born!
We also decorated our house a little bit and invited good friends to come over.
Мы еще и задекорировали дом немного. И пригласили гостей.
 
Our street is famous for Trunk-or-Treat that the neighborhood church holds every year.
Carl brought his Drone and took a short video...., then his drone collapsed. You can see it on the video below. Sad story. I downloaded his video on the lowest resolution, sorry. The large file didn't want to load.

Наша улица знаменита церковью которая каждый год проводит Хэловин во дворе, вечером люди выстраивают машины на парковке, открывают и украшают багажники, а малышня идет строем и просит конфеты. Все довольно цивилизованно.
Карл взял с собой дрон и снял небольшое видео. К сожалению что-то непредвиденное произошло с машинкой и дрон упал. Вы это увидите на видео. Я video загрузила в низком разрешении, извиняюсь, но большое не хотело загружаться.
Видно как наша детвора выбегает из дома и красота осени нашего района.

Итак детвора умчалась за конфетами (Николь конечно же забыла надеть свою шапку с косой) и мужчины ринулись за ними, присматривать. Мы, мамочки, вдруг оказались одни, наедине с блюдами и вкусным вином. Вечер удался!  
Kids had so much fun! We had total of eight kiddos in the house. All dressed up and frozen, they collected tons of candy! Nicole brought about 150 pieces of sweets. Om my! Like we need that much in the house.
Men went trick-or-treating with kiddos, so us, moms, stay inside in the warm house, had some snacks and good wine. Perfect Halloween night it was!

Дети вернулись замерзшие, но с кучей конфет. Николетта насчитала 150! Конфеты плохо отражаются на моей фигуре....
Вобщем Хэловин удался!

New Soaps and More

Here I go again!
Made two batches of new soaps.
The batches are small, about 7-8 bars each. This allows me to test out a new recipe and decide if I would like to make it again.

Снова я, с тем же занятием!
Сделала два новых мыла. Каждый рецепт дал мнe по 7-8 кусочков мыла. Это дает мне возможность опробовать новый рецепт и решить хочу ли я его еще раз делать.

Oatmeal soap with apricot kernels and eucalyptus blossoms EO

Then I thought why not to try to make solid lotion bar for hands. After researching and reading through numerous recipes, I created my own blend of precious oils and butters and added Essential Oil (EO) of Honey Bee Wax + Yuzu.
The hardest part was to find the right size for molds and tins.
Потом я подумала что неплохо бы было сделать твердую плиточку бальзама для рук. Это как гигиеническая помада для тела. После исследования многочисленных рецептов я сделала мой собственный рецепт, состоящий из драгоценных жидких и твердых масел и добавила эфирные масла Юзу и Пчелиный Воск. Труднее всего было найти подходящие формочки и металические коробочки. 

Here is my eye lash creation - precious oil eyelash treatment. It consists of Castor oil, Jojoba oil, Argan oil, a few drops of Rose and Tea Tree oil.
Feels and smells lovely.
Вот мое масло для ресниц! Помните мы в школе растили реснички Касторовым маслом? Вспомнив это, я сделала смесь Касторового, Арган и Жожоба (или Хохоба) масел и капнула парочку капель Розового и масла Чайного дерева. Запах чудесный! 

Nicole asked me to buy her bath bombs. Well, I created my own. The original color is lavender, but I took a pic at night. None of them are left.
It was a very quick and satisfying project!
Николетта попросила меня купить ей бомбочки для ванной. Я сотворила их сама. Настоящий цвет сиреневый, но фото делала ночью. И ничего конечно уже не осталось. Это был довольно быстрый проэкт. Дочь довольна!

Here is a pincushion we made at local ASG group. So tedious, but so worth it!
А это игольница. Мы их шили на одном из собрании Швейной Гильдии. Мелкие детали и масса ручной работы, но оно того стоило!

Her First Place and Crafts from me

Finally I got the pictures of Nicole with her Trophy!
She's got First Place in 1st grade school speech competition!
I didn't even think she would win, so I didn't have my camera on me.

Nicole got her pretty earrings in a shape of a cross.
In our school we cannot wear too much accessories, but these earrings fit right in!
Николетка получила сережечки в форме крестика.
В нашей школе особо не положено использовать много аксессуаров. Но такие сережки разрешены!

Our child show off her culinary abilities by making us dessert one evening. I didn't help her and it was a great surprise. What she holds is "an owl". Me and daddy had "kitties".
Ребенок сделала собственный дессерт, без нашей помощи. Это вообще-то совушка. Ну так она решила. А у меня и папы были котики. Мы были очень приятно удивлены! 

And this one was collaborations to make pretty charms for Nicole's backpack. I liked making this one too!
А это было сделано в содружестве со мной. Две висюльки к школьному рюкзаку. Мне очень понравилось их делать!

This picture is to show you my handmade pattern-weights. I like to sew trico and fleeces, and as you know pins can distort fabric. Weights are preferred. They are easy to make. Here is what I did -
1 - rubber end cups for chairs, filled with cement. When it dries I will cover the opening with rounds of fleece.
2 - these cups I got in the pluming department of the hardware store. They are quite heavy and I only covered them with fleece.
Это фотографии моих новых грузиков для выкраивания из ткани. Я часто шью из трикотажа и флиса, а скалывание булавками перекашивает и вытягивает ткань. В магазине эти грузики довольно дорогие. Ну вот что я придумала - 
1 - это резиновые наконечники для стульев. Залиты цементом. Как все просохнет я наклею фетровый кружок и закрою цемент.
2 - это тяжелые металлические крышки используемые для водопроводных труб. Я их просто обтянула и обшила флисом. Нижняя часть - кортонный кружок, обтянутый флисом.

I hope you can recognize legendary Ring Shawl from Orenburg region. It takes lots of time to make - especially for me for I am not used to knit with such fine yarn and needles. Hope it'll be done by the time of my retirement!

Думаю что вы все узнаете что это такое! Да, Оренбургский палантин. Сама решилась его вязать и теперь пытаюсь найти время на него. Вяжется нелегко, поскольку рука у меня не привыкла к тонюсеньким спицам и пряже. Но надеюсь к пенсии закончу!

Another yummy salad for lunch - with a bit of different ingredients but the same dressing and Furikake sprinkles.
И еще одна разновидность моего салата к ланчу. Другие ингридиенты, но все та же поливка и фурикаке.

This is my fresh farmers cheese made with row milk. I miss the taste of this cheese so much and decided to make one for myself. We don't have Russian stores anywhere around here.
Strange american low forbids to use raw milk for human consumption. So weird! Well, I scolded it and made cheese, and I ate it myself anyway!
Сделанный мною творог. Очень скучаю по его вкусу! А русских магазинов в округе нет. Вот и выкручиваюсь. Это было приготовлено из свежено коровьего молочка с фермы, 1,5 литра! Странные американцы не разрешают покупать сырое молоко для использования в еду людям, только на корм животным. Ну вы поняли куда я клоню....

And guess what? Nicole was sick, with high fever and all. Now she is on the mend, but I got the bug and have fever too. So sick and tired of it - it is 6th virus during winter season!
И представляете, Николета снова болела - с высокой температурой и всем остальным букетом. Она выздоравливает. Ну и как обычно я это вирус пожхватила. Как мне уже это надоело! 6 вирус за зиму.... Вот мой чай
Он хорош при простуде - 
зеленый чай + тонко резанный имбирь + долька лимона + трава тимьяна + мед.

All Times Low!

Winter hit us hard this year!
So much for Global Warming!
Last time we had here such low temperature in November 1972.
Of course I wasn't here.
I don't do well in the cold and by this don't do a good justification to my country.
Snow is everywhere. Schools on Friday were canceled. So we stayed home.
I never drove in snow and feel quite nervous to take Nicole to school on Monday.
Maybe it will be canceled again?
Silly hummingbirds decided to stay with us this Winter and I keep filling up their feeders, defrost, and refill. I wish they could go south....
I didn't take pictures of outside, don't feel like going there, but Nicole plays in the snow every day!

We've got Nicole school pictures.
She looks funny on them. Beige background is not her friend.
I ordered a package of one to the right.
Another milestone - she lost her fifth baby tooth. This time on the top.
Her smile is so silly and I always giggle looking at her.
She is very proud!
Who new this is such a big deal for kids?!

Continue knitting and crocheting.

Small order - baby hat for a baby shower.

Another pair of the slippers.
One of my friends loves them so much! She bought them from me last year and asked to make another pair again, for her entire family!

Sewing. Tunic for Nicole.
Combined one of my T-shirt (which she loves) and light cotton knit fabric from my stash.
The heart applique idea came from watching Natalie Chanin class on Craftsy.
Oh! I so want to make the class project - heavily embroidered coat.
Maybe I get brave.
Some day.

We spent Thanksgiving day at Seven Feathers casino and resort.
Met with family and had yummy lunch together, gambled a bit, wandered around and chatted.
The casino already had Christmas theme and you could see pretty decorated Christmas trees everywhere.
I love this!
Of course, I took pictures.
